Runnin'

So I have some crazy friends in my ward that are talking me in to running a half-marathon with them in April - crazy, I know! I never thought I would EVER want to, but the idea of running/walking that far seems like something I want to say that I've done. So for the last 3 and half weeks I have been exercising everyday and next week I will start officially training for it. Getting ready for it, I have been running on the treadmill and doing some strength training. I'm supposed to go with my friends on Saturday for a longer run, but yesterday while running I developed a blister on the side of my heal:

For as long as I can remember I've worn holes into my shoes like this:

As you can see, the shoes aren't that worn out, but the inside is almost down to the plastic. I've even been to a special "running" store and they looked at me like I was an alien and said they'd never seen it before... thanks a million!

If I have any hope in completing my goal, I need help! Does anyone have any ideas!?

Back in the Saddle Again…

I have to admit that I am not a committed blogger - I jump off and on the bandwagon very sporadically but, of course you all know that. To make up for it, here are a bunch of new posts with lots of pictures – enjoy!

I thought I’d start with HAIR:

Kevin (Re-visited)

If you don’t know this story, this is what happens when a wife tries to cut your hair while baking bread, watching TV, and a baby is crying.  Word to the wise – check the razor attachment twice, cut once.  (This is an old picture – thank goodness he doesn’t have to sit on the stand at church like this!)

PS: This is the only interesting hair cut Kevin has ever had in his whole life, so it’s the only one worthy of our family hair collage! :)

Zoo & Santa

We had been wanting to take Emery to the Zoo all summer and fall and never made it, so we decided to pick the coldest day in December to go. We saw 6 other patrons, 50 different kinds of monkeys, 3 giraffe, 4 Asian cats, 2 zebra and a cougar…Seriously, I think that was it. The Hoagle Zoo has “Zoo Lights” in December, so we got there around 3:30 so we could see the animals before it got dark and the lights turned on. We had to leave early because we were all so cold. Come to find out, we would have been kicked out of the zoo before the lights turned on and would have had to pay to get back in again to see the lights. Lesson learned: Don’t pay $20 in December to go to the zoo. Emery had fun, though!

Two days before Christmas Eve we wanted to go see the lights at temple square and take Emery and Jane to the mall to see Santa. We went to the mall and stood in line for two hours before we saw Santa. We considered leaving, but Emery would not have let us – needless to say, we didn’t make it to see the lights that night!

Emery was so excited, then got a little shy when she got up to him. I think it will be a good memory for her!

Santa was very nice, but we could not get him to look at our camera! I guess we couldn’t get Emery or Jane either – Oh well!

Emery

Emery had a wonderful Christmas – Santa brought a  play Kitchen and a Cinderella doll.  Often, she comes to wake me up in the morning and says - “It’s Christmas Mom!  Santa’s coming!”  She cooks stuff everyday in her kitchen and will serve you anything from fries to a piece of lettuce – we think she’s an excellent cook!

Here are a few pictures of her silly shenanigans lately…

domonos1“What’s in your shirt Emery?”

dominos 2Kevin found her one Saturday morning and she had emptied almost the entire can of dominos down her shirt!

I was down working on some laundry and heard a clash upstairs, so I thought I better go check it out…  I found her like this – pineapple sun hat and swimming suit skirt on, eyes covered and my makeup bag and lotion strewn about.

E sink1  E sink 2She often sits in our bathroom sink while I put my make-up on.  She’s like a mechanic’s assistant in that she makes sure I get every item on in order:  “Mascara,” “Check.” “Blush,” “Check.”  It’s pretty hilarious!

Every morning she helps me exercise…

Jane

Jane is getting really good at moving around – just a couple days ago she started the first stage of an army crawl. She can sit up on her own momentarily.  She loves to play with Emery and is showing signs of a very sweet and dainty disposition.

This is a picture of her first real hair-do.  I’m not sure when it will happen again as it was very painful for both of us to have done:)
